I survived Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (DHF) back in May/June which was during fasting month of Ramadhan. Never thought I could get DHF because a few years back I was involved in Dengue Control Program and almost 80% of Kota Bharu was established as dengue prone areas. I remember back in 2014 when Kota Bharu topped the national dengue chart and I had high grade fever for almost 5 days. Luckily I got tested and it was negative.
This time around, I wasn't so lucky. I started having headache and dizziness on 30th of May and the next day I went to work with a spinning head and chills all over my body. I had to attend a meeting that morning and as soon as the meeting was over, I stormed out and drove myself home after stopping by 7E to buy Panadols and Kool Fever patches. The weather in Kota Bharu was scorching hot as usual. I put myself to bed and placed the patch on my forehead but I felt nothing. I decided to wrap myself in my blanket while glancing at my phone's clock. It was 12.55pm, and I fell asleep.

| Kool Fever was useless lol |
I woke up at 3.00pm I think, because I felt like vomiting. Went to the toilet but nothing came out. So I went to sleep again and again and again until it was dark in my house. It was so hard for me to get up but I managed to turn on the lights in the living room and locked the main door. And then I fell asleep again until next day.
I woke up around 11am and looked upon my phone. A few texts and a few missed calls. I replied one of my friend's text because he said he could take me to the clinic/hospital. I told him I couldn't get up and asked him to buy me a bottle of 100 Plus. Yes, I was so lethargic at that time. And then i went back to sleep again until another friend of mine came to pick me up around 8.30pm. I said to him.. no, we are not going to the hospital because I was afraid I might get warded hahaha. So we went to a private clinic nearby.
When I saw the doctor, I told him everything, every dengue-like symptoms that I had and the fact that I lived in the dengue outbreak area. I told him I wanted to get tested but he said NO at first because he thought my blood would not be positive due to it was my 3rd day of fever. He said the dengue kit test only will detect positive blood from day 4 of fever and onwards. I was like, what? I was too tired to argue with him but anyway I still insisted and finally he gave up. And so, I got tested and yes it was brightly positive man!

The doctor admitted that he was wrong the whole time! See, working with dengue since 2010 really taught me something lol. Best part is, the doctor even proposed for me to get warded but I quickly said NO. He said my white blood cell count was rapidly decreasing and it was a warning sign. Fast forwarded, I went home with RM150 bill lol.
Part 2 coming soon....
